Good morning and happy Friday to you!
Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? We’re looking at a pretty low-key couple days ahead of us, but that actually sounds perfect! Our goal is to get out on our bikes for a nice, long ride! Every summer we say we’re going to bike “tons,” but with all the travel and events that summer brings, we usually don’t get out as much as we want! Hopefully end of summer and early fall will be our prime time to ride! Okay, turning to today’s post…fun things from this week, both new finds and some random favorites.
I’ve been a Fabletics member for a couple months now and love the array of colorful outfit options they provide! As someone who primarily wears workout clothes, I always love finding new, fun prints to sport. I am also a fan of their non-workout options: pullovers, comfy dresses, and casual pants that can transition from an active day to a casual evening out. This sale was top notch- I ended up purchasing a wrap hoodie that I can’t wait to cozy up in this fall, a pullover sweatshirt with an interesting back, black workout capris with a punch of neon, and a couple cute, functional tops!
Pre-spiraled veggies at Whole Foods:
Okay, this is definitely a cool find, but I honestly don’t want to make a habit of buying these…I ran into Whole foods on Wednesday to find the fixin’s for an easy, quick dinner. In the vegetable department, I saw the collection for pre-spiraled sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and zucchini. Since I have a spiralizer, I typically wouldn’t grab these, but I imagine butternut squash, with it’s thicker skin, would be the toughest of the 3 to spiralize, so I went with that! If you don’t have a spiralizer or are short on time, these are a great way to still get in those veggie noodles!
Purely Elizabeth Pumpkin Fig Granola:
Oh my…this granola is so darn good. I have not had Purely Elizabeth granola in a long time, but since it was on sale at Whole Foods and I had not yet tried this flavor, I decided to add it to the cart! This granola is perfect: sweet meets salty and the most wonderful, crunchy texture! I also love that it has less sugar than many of the granola options out there, but it’s still so packed with flavor!
This will be making it’s way into many fall breakfast parfaits (I’m imagining topping this on Siggi’s Pumpkin yogurt)! Typically, I would polish off half the bag (or maybe even the whole bag) in one day, but I whipped out my 21 Day Fix containers to keep myself portion controlled! Speaking of 21 Day Fix containers…they’re next on my list for this week!
21 Day Fix Portion Containers
Usually I’m pretty good about portioning my meals, never quite over-doing any one particular food group. But, with travel, visitors, and a hectic schedule, my eating has been a little “off.” When this happens, I pull out my portion control containers to get a better grasp on where I’m splurging too much! It’s so helpful to have these on hand, especially when I have something as addicting as Purely Elizabeth granola! You can email me if you’re interested in your own set!
Who isn’t loving the Olympics? It’s been such a blast coming home each evening, anxious to find out how our USA athletes are doing! My favorite event to watch is Gymnastics (so I’m bummed that’s over) and despite the tough match-ups, I also loved the Women’s volleyball! Since I ran cross-country and track in high school, I also definitely have an appreciation for the track and field events! I feel like the Olympics have been such a positive, exciting break from what we usually hear on the news and love how it brings our country together- all united in cheering on our amazing country!
I’ve been on a big reading kick lately and really enjoyed the latest book I finished, Sarah’s Key. I won’t say too much about the book in case anyone wants to read it, but it tells the story of little girl and her family during the Jewish roundup in Paris, both in the girl’s voice and from the perspective of a present day journalist who is investigating the historic event. Many reviewers did not like how the story bounced from one time period to the other, but I loved it and felt it highlighted how this tragedy was not talked about enough in France (the journalist had no knowledge of the events that occurred). I am hoping to watch the movie this weekend and see how it compares to the book!
His and Her pillow cases:
A couple weeks ago, I wandered into World Market to look for a new candle since I had a handy coupon to take advantage of. I came across these fun pillow cases and decided I had to have them! We have a very neutral bedroom, so I love to swap out things like pillow cases and throw pillows to change up the look every once in awhile!
And a random one…
Bears pre-season and fall on the horizon:
I’m a summer gal through and through, I can’t get enough of outdoor patios, cool drinks, maxi dresses, and the general laid back feeling that seems to accompany the season. But, if there’s one other season that lures me in…it’s fall. I LOVE football, especially the Bears, the cool, crisp weather gives me a reason to cozy up in over-sized sweaters, and I will eat anything pumpkin flavored (Nature’s Path Pumpkin Waffles and Siggi’s Pumpkin Yogurt are top on my list). So listening in on the Bears pre-season game on Thursday got me all kinds of pumped up for official football season!
And that’s a wrap for this week! Wishing you a fabulous weekend! See you next week!
Question of the day: Any new finds for you this week?
