Good morning friends! How are you? I hope your weekend was a fun, relaxing one! Relaxation was certainly the theme of our weekend and I’m totally fine with that! After a couple crazy busy weeks and weekends, a slower-paced Saturday and Sunday was just what I needed. Lots of pajama time, enjoying the snow falling, meal-prep tasks, football, and of course, some awesome workouts rounded out our low-key weekend.
A fun update to share with you all: I am officially on the schedule at my Pure Barre studio and taught my first classes last week!
My nerves were out of control, but in a good way…My goal for every class I teach is that clients leave feeling stronger, healthier, and happier…so I keep that in the forefront of my mind when I start to feel anxious or nervous about teaching! I still have a lot of work to do, but after a long journey of training (that started back in September) it is such a blast to lead classes and feel all that energy!
My own Pure Barre experience has been awesome, and I plan to do a post all about Pure Barre someday soon, but I will quickly say that I have seen incredible changes in my body, particularly in my lower body…way more definition in my glutes, hamstrings, and quads. In general, I feel like my strength has evened out, which is so important for injury prevention. Pure Barre workouts really emphasize working opposing muscle groups, so your hamstrings work just as hard as your quads, your back works just as hard as your abs.
I think this is a huge reason why I haven’t had any injury related setbacks since starting Pure Barre, a contrast to years past when knee or hip pain from running or doing too many high-impact workouts would force me into a workout pause. More on Pure Barre later, but if you’ve been curious about this workout, I encourage you to give it a try! Many studios are doing special packages throughout the holidays so it’s a perfect time to take advantage of lower prices!
Okay, that’s my fun little update for the week! Now, onto the weekly dinner menu. I have to be honest, last week was not my finest in terms of meal planning. Matt had two work events we ate out for and then my nervousness about teaching coupled with feeling slightly under the weather didn’t leave me with a ton of cooking motivation. No worries here. It happens. I’m just ready to get back on track and get some good meals going for the week ahead! Here’s what we’ve got on the dinner menu:
- Monday: Meatloaf Meatballs (from Against All Grain cookbook) with Smashed Potatoes – I will make extras to have on hand for the week
- Tuesday: Vegetarian Tacos (Filled with black beans, sweet potatoes, chopped romaine, and lots of veggies)
- Wednesday: Work holiday party for me, so I’ll leave Matt with leftover Meatloaf Meatballs
- Thursday: Sausage and Peppers Arrabbiata (from Against All Grain cookbook)
- Friday: Most likely a date night out 😉
In the comments, share one dinner you’ve got planned for the week!
