Hey hey! Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but I am thrilled the weekend is here. This week felt long, and although nothing major happened, there were enough minor inconveniences that I’m just feeling drained. Given the tragedies of the recent hurricanes, I try to keep everything in perspective and remember that even when days, or weeks, are tough, I have a home, a family, and my health. Focusing on the simple joys in life can make all the difference when I’m feeling frustrated, worried, or stressed. Today, typing up this post, I am doing just that- focusing on the little things that made me smile throughout the week.
“AUTUMN SKIES AND PUMPKIN PIES” PILLOW COVER BY PCB HOME – ETSY
I don’t even know how I came across this shop on Etsy, but I am so glad I did. Since we live in a small apartment, and don’t have much storage space, I love simply switching out pillow cases seasonally for easy, space-friendly decor. I am so impressed with the quality of this pillow cover, and it matches perfectly with our existing color scheme. (There are many text color options to choose from so you can pick the one that fits your style/color palette). I much prefer supporting a local, family-owned business than a larger retail store, so I was thrilled to come across this shop. I am sure I will be purchasing more pillow covers and other goodies from PCB Home in the future!
PUMPKIN RX BAR
The pumpkin obsession continues…it’s no secret I am a fan of RX Bars, but pumpkin flavored ones are on a different level. I love that it has that natural pumpkin taste…the perfect combination of sweet and spice. This flavor is currently on sale at Whole Foods 2/$4, so I grabbed a few to have on hand for snacks throughout the week. You can also order them –> here. Give them a try!
GOOD BAR SOAP SALE
Matt and I love Good Soap and have been using it regularly for well over a year. All natural ingredients, every scent smells incredible, and they don’t dry out our skin like many bar soaps have in the past. Occasionally, these babies go on a major sale at Whole Foods and that sale is happening NOW. The last few times they went on sale for a $1 each, I grabbed a couple extra, rather than doing a major stock up. The second we ran out, I regretted not buying a bunch while they were still at that low price. I learned my lesson, so yesterday I grabbed 15 bars…and I think we’ll be set for awhile. If you’re someone who is not into the whole shower gel thing (I never have been and likely never will be), I can’t recommend this soap enough!
FROZEN YOGURT BITES WITH GOOD KARMA FLAX MILK YOGURT
You’re getting a 2 for one here because I’m sharing a recipe for these little frozen yogurt bites I made this week using Good Karma Flax Milk Yogurt. There’s no denying, I’m just a gal who enjoys an evening dessert (who’s with me?) And rather than fighting it, I always try and come up with healthier options to keep my sweet tooth satisfied. (Of course, there are days when I just want to indulge in some good ol’ ice cream, but on daily basis, I know that’s not fantastic for me).
This week at Whole Foods, they were giving out samples of Good Karma yogurt and since I’m never one to pass up a free sample, I gave it a go. I was really impressed with the vanilla flavor- it almost reminded me of vanilla pudding. I do eat dairy, but having dairy late in the evening can often feel too heavy for my stomach, so I was excited to have a dairy-free option, that also tastes great. These yogurts are currently on sale at Whole Foods- so there ya go, a sale alert and a recipe!
I’m not sure what prompted me to whip up little frozen yogurt bites, but they are hell’a good and totally meet my evening dessert standards. Here’s the recipe:
FROZEN YOGURT BITES
- 6 oz container vanilla Good Karma yogurt
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (mine was melted) I used the triple filtered kind, so it did not give the bites a coconut flavor
- 1 tsp honey
- 1-2 tbsp raisins (or little filling of your choice)
PIZZA NIGHT – ON REPEAT
For the second Friday in a row, Matt and I have cancelled our dinner reservations and are staying in to make homemade pizzas and watch a movie. I am so glad I ordered a 3 pack of Simple Mills Almond Flour Pizza Dough, because I sense this may become a weekly tradition for us (at least for the time being). I think making homemade pizzas is a blast, and we’ve experimented in the past, doing prosciutto with fried egg pizzas, spinach and feta pizzas, and a few other less-traditional combos! This crust, made with almond flour is among my favorites, since it never makes me feel overly stuffed, like normal pizza will. You can order a 3 pack — > here for a great price.
RANDOM RETAIL SALES
Who doesn’t love a little retail therapy? Loft always has great sales, and currently they have 50% off many fall favorites. I ordered this dress, using up a rewards card I had.
Nordstrom also has some awesome sales going on, and I just snagged this velvet purse to wear to a few, upcoming weddings!
There you have it! I hope you have a beautiful rest of your Friday and an awesome weekend ahead! Let me know if you try the Good Karma yogurt bites!
Question of the day: What’s something that made you smile this week?
