Hey, hey! Happy Friday and Happy Labor Day weekend! Any fun plans on the agenda? We have a busy weekend in store for us…Matt’s mom and dad are both visiting, we have two parties (I’ll be attending my family party solo so Matt can hang with his family), and I teach classes both Sunday and Monday! Even though it’ll be a crazy few days, I’m really looking forward to spending quality time with family!
September always seems to be a busy time of year for us…lots of birthdays, weddings, and with football season starting up, there’s always a football viewing party to attend. My goal as we head into this new month is to focus on being truly present wherever I am. I tend to look back after fall is over and think, “where the heck did the time go?” I plan to fully take advantage of all these fall months have to offer…watching Husker games with the boys, spending time outside, and immersing myself in fall recipes. Because, as much as I love summer, there is nothing like fall…the crisp air, changing leaves, cuddling under a blanket with red wine, apple picking, slow cooker meals…fall is just cozy. So although I’ll miss my rosé and rompers, I’m ready to embrace the beauty of fall.
And with that, let’s dive into finds and faves from the week…
FALL BOUQUET FROM TRADER JOE’S
Big shocker, but I am just in love with this bright, gorgeous fall arrangement. I always love the flower selection at Trader Joe’s and appreciate the reasonable price point on all their bouquets. Since the last few weeks were a bit draining in terms of sleep, I wanted to bring flowers into my environment because I know they always, always improve my mood. I love the rich, fall colors in this arrangement- definitely the perfect pick-me-up!
ORGANIC MACA ROOT POWDER
Another Trader Joe’s win for the week! Last week, I saw this new Maca powder on the “new arrivals” shelf and immediately put it in my cart. I knew Maca had many benefits, but had no clue what I was in for taste-wise…well, it’s actually super tasty. Sort of a nutty flavor, and added into a smoothie or oatmeal bowl, it adds richness as well as a little flavor punch. Among the many benefits of Maca, is it’s positive effect on balancing hormones. Definitely give it a try- add it into your favorite smoothie, mix it into mashed sweet potatoes with some cinnamon and almond butter, or even combine it into an overnight oats recipe!
doTerra ON-GUARD ESSENTIAL OIL
Well, with my lack of sleep, I definitely started to feel a bit under the weather this week. Nothing major at all, just a bit of a sore throat, some congestion, and a general lack of energy. Thursday morning I felt pretty awful, so when I came home from my morning classes (and knew I had a long evening of teaching ahead of me), I thought I’d start up my doTerra diffuser with the On-Guard Protective Blend oil.
This blend supports the immune system, and I swear, after diffusing it during my lunch break, I felt way better! By the way, I totally recommend the doTerra diffuser…I use ours all the time…I love the Serenity Blend for right before bed and On-Guard blend when I’m feeling sick, or just during the day!
SIGGI’S NEW FLAVORS
I shared a few, new-to-me flavors from Siggi’s on my Instagram stories over the weekend, but had to share here as well. I snagged a bunch of Siggi’s from Whole Foods on Sunday, since they were on sale, and I primarily grabbed this banana cinnamon one, as well as a chocolate one. Friends, the chocolate one was unreal. A light cocoa flavor, so rich and creamy…it reminded me of chocolate pudding or mousse or something! Granted, the chocolate option is one of the triple cream yogurts from Siggi’s, so it definitely has a higher fat content, but worth it. The banana cinnamon is super delicious as well, and with no sugar added, this baby is perfect if you need a little something sweet, but want to keep sugar to a minimum!
ROOTZ LABOR DAY SALE
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love Rootz Paleo Protein-Superfood. I’ve been adding this blend into my mornings smoothies, or after a workout (it can be used for either!). I am a fan of this particular brand because there are minimal ingredients, and the ingredients are easily identifiable. I think simplicity with any supplement is quite important and even though there are limited ingredients in this superfood, it tastes delicious! Rootz is offering an awesome sale for Labor Day…20% off of any purchase with code “laborday.” You can click here to check out the story behind Rootz and to see all the products. Be sure to stock up now!
And that’s a wrap! A few favorites from the week! Wishing you a safe, relaxing, enjoyable holiday weekend!
