Welcome to Active By Annie! This blog follows my journey of healthy, active living. I am passionate about sharing my experiences because I believe when we feel confident, healthy, and energetic, we spread those good vibes to others! Eating healthy and staying fit through exercise are not always easy tasks, but when we’re open and we share our journeys, both the challenges and the wins, we inspire one another to make better, more informed choices. I hope this is a place where you will find inspiration, support, ideas, and an outlet for sharing your own experiences.
A little about me…
After 6 years of teaching Kindergarten, I am now transitioning to a full-time fitness career. I am a certified ACE personal trainer and a teacher at 3 Pure Barre studios in the Chicago-land area.
I live in Chicago, Illinois with my husband, Matt, who is my biggest supporter of everything…he pushes me every day to go for my dreams and live out my passions. We love going on little, active adventures (as you will see on the weekend recaps): biking along the lakefront, walking trails in and around the Chicago-land area, kayaking, and doing our “neighborhood of the month” club (where we walk around different Chicago neighborhoods to take in the unique vibes of each one) are just a few of our favorite weekend activities.
I didn’t used to love cooking. In fact, I hated it. But, as my exercise routine became consistent a few years back, I found myself eager to get into the kitchen and start preparing healthful, homemade meals. Now, I enjoy the entire experience of cooking, but I definitely gravitate towards simpler meals to accommodate our busy, and often times, unpredictable schedules. I’ve learned…the crock-pot is my friend…my very, very good friend.
I look forward to keeping you up-to-date on any new recipes or fun workouts I have, along with tastes of everyday, mindful, active living! As always, feel free to share what you’ve got going on as well…this is a community and we’re all learning, growing, and progressing into our best possible lives together!
